Did you see...

...the crescent moon (waxing its way towards next Friday's last full-moon of 2008) on Monday night, with Venus and Jupiter pitching up nearby?

This is interesting: eyes have a fovea - a patch of tissue in the centre of the retina - where lots of cones (of roads and cones fame) are densely packed. This allows your eyes to see in high definition. But the field of view of this fovea is only 5 degrees. On Monday, crazily, the moon, Venus and Jupiter all sat within this angle - and this would have been hugely appreciated by your, and millions of other people's, brain.

But sadly not mine. I missed it.
